A new patch has landed! 

In this one, we introduce various gameplay and UI improvements, bird power fixes, and a new feature: Card Tray Preview! 

You will now find a new button in the game, located under the “Overview” button. This button opens the full card tray, where you can see:

• the current bird cards in the tray,
• the top card of the bird discard pile,
• the top card of the bonus discard pile,
• counters indicating how many cards remain in each deck,
• counters indicating how many cards are currently in each discard pile.

 

The patch is rolling out across all platforms, and the update may take some time to become available on your platform, so if you don’t see it right away, please check back later!

• Fixed bird cards artwork overlapping when repeating Great Eared Nightjar’s power.
• Fixed 4-digit numbers misaligning in cached food counters.
• Fixed turn order progression not always progressing clockwise for bird powers that allow all players to draw food or cards (e.g., Purple Sunbird, Common Loon).
• Fixed Game End food caching powers incorrectly displaying doubled values.
• Fixed undoing the upgrade of the Grassland’s action with cached seed not returning the seed to the player’s supply.
• Fixed Rose-Ringed Parakeet incorrectly highlighting as playable in the Wetland when another player has a bird that plays on top of another bird.
• Fixed the highlighting of playable cards in hand during card tucking.
• Fixed American Oystercatcher not unlocking in the Birds atlas.
• Resetting the card tray with a spare Duet token during a bird power’s activation is now consistent across all bird powers.
• The player order on the end-of-round goal and spent nectar screens now matches the player order for the current round.
• Refreshed the overview icon.
• Added: Card Tray Preview. Players can now preview the card tray in a separate window using the button below the overview. The preview shows the current bird card tray, the top cards of the bird and bonus card discard piles, and counters showing the number of cards remaining in each deck and discard pile.

Birders! A new hotfix is rolling out across all platforms!

In this one, we fix several gameplay issues involving bird powers, bonus cards, Automa games, and card interactions, along with some improvements to the Preserve Archive. Also, Western Yellow Wagtail no longer breaks the chain when scoring the Ranger bonus cards!

• Fixed spending an egg to upgrade the Wetland’s action and leaving to the main menu before confirming, causing the egg to be lost.
• Fixed skipping when copying bonus card powers with Marsh Warbler, causing a soft lock.
• Fixed caching the 4th round’s goal with Daurian Jackdaw, causing a gameplay lock in games against Automa.
• Fixed Great Eared Nightjar removing bird cards from the deck after a failed hunt.
• Fixed Great Eared Nightjar skipping food caching after drawing the last card left in the deck.
• Fixed viewing the opponent’s board when choosing the starting hand, clearing the selection of starting bird cards.
• Fixed Tundra Swan not activating in games against Automa.
• American Oystercatcher now allows drawing cards both from the deck and the tray.
• [ENG] Luzon Bleeding-Heart now counts toward the Photographer bonus card, as Additional Asian Avians add “blood” to the list.
• [ENG] Tufted Titmouse now counts toward the Anatomist bonus card, as Birds of Canada will add “tuft” to the list.
• Western Yellow Wagtail no longer breaks the chain for the <Habitat> Ranger bonus cards.
• The players’ order on the game-end scoring screen now corresponds with the players’ order in the 4th round.
• Improvements to the Preserve Archive – archived games are now sorted by date, with the most recent on top. Scrolling and deleting archived games is now easier. Added icons for game mode and online games.

In this update, we’ve fixed several gameplay issues affecting bird powers, bonus cards, Automarazzi mode, achievements, and the Bird Atlas, along with various gameplay and UI improvements.

• Fixed an issue in Automarazzi mode where backing out of taking eggs from another player could cause the “Next” button to disappear.

• Fixed cards in other players’ hands being highlighted as playable.
• Fixed Marsh Warbler’s copied “play another bird” powers not properly applying discounts to egg or food costs.
• Fixed Western Yellow Wagtail not counting correctly for the “Ranger” bonus cards.
• Fixed Belted Kingfisher incorrectly counting toward the “Photographer” bonus card.
• Fixed undoing an upgraded habitat action not restoring seed used from Eurasian Nuthatch to the player’s supply.
• Fixed undoing card tucking with a controller causing focus to be lost.
• Fixed Tawny Owl not counting toward the “Doomsday Prepper” achievement.
• Fixed Pink Cockatoo appearing in the wrong position in the alphabetically sorted Bird Atlas.
• Western Yellow Wagtail no longer counts double toward the bonus cards: Mechanical Engineer, Site Selection Expert, Population Monitor.

Wyrmspan takes you on a journey to a world of mysterious hidden caverns and extraordinary dragons, introducing new layers of strategy for aspiring dracologists to master. It’s a standalone strategy card game that feels familiar to Wingspan, but introduces new mechanics and lore to explore.

It’s been a while since the last Dev Chronicles Episode! Winter is now over, though it wasn’t too harsh with all the dragons around (they are rather warm and, well… fiery).

Over the last four months, we’ve been busy polishing the game and adding new features. What made it different, however, was the amount of great feedback you shared during our January playtests. Beyond the bugs and suggestions you reported, the feedback forms revealed something wonderful: a closer look at who you are!

For example, it turns out Flamekeepers are everywhere! We’ve got players from the US and Canada all the way to the Philippines and Finland. Love for little dragons is truly universal!

It’s no surprise that about 80% of you are already masters of the physical board game, but 20% of our playtesters were actually working with dragon artisans for the very first time! We’re working hard to make sure the game feels like home for the veterans while staying easy and accessible for those who have never played Flamecraft before.

To make Flamecraft as welcoming as possible, we’re finishing work on a feature you mentioned many times in your feedback forms – a tutorial! You’re absolutely right that it’s needed, and we will deliver! We’ve prepared some surprises to make it extra fun, but we won’t spoil it just yet!

We are also working on some visual enhancements, including UI adjustments. Thanks to your feedback, we know what to work on!

The bot opponents are getting smarter each day, and they won’t be so fast and elusive anymore. Fair but challenging – that’s the idea!

 

Lastly, we know that we have some solo travelers who would like to journey on their own, exploring the lore and story in solo mode. Fret not, noble Flamekeepers – we’re on it!

Some time ago, we held an Achievement Contest on the Cardboard Alchemy Discord server. We received so many creative and thoughtful entries, and after some truly tough choices, we’ve selected a fantastic group of achievements to be added to the game. You can check who won on the Discord server or later, in the game’s credits! Congratulations to everyone who took part in the contest!

 

We are truly grateful for your support and contribution to the game. It really feels like the spirit of helpful little dragons is expanding outside Flamecraft, which makes the world a little brighter, especially now.

A new patch is rolling out across all platforms!

In this update, we fix several issues related to bird powers, including edge cases caused by specific card combinations. We’ve also addressed a number of UI problems and improved gameplay flow across different modes, with fixes for Automa, Automarazzi, and Duet mode to make matches run more smoothly overall.

Fixed:

• An issue where a specific bird combination allowed a bird’s power to be repeated
• American Oystercatcher’s power resetting
• The Back button appearing during card drawing after reloading the game
• The overview board and player’s hand hiding when playing against Automa
• Gaining food from the Duet map after playing a predator triggering some pink powers incorrectly
• Misplaced tooltips in the overview
• Missing glyphs for some card-drawing actions
• An issue where exchanging cards with another player in Automarazzi mode during a tucking action could cause a turn skip

Hello, Flamekeepers!

The forges are glowing, the shops are open, and the town is ready to welcome visitors once again!

The Flamecraft Playtests are now live! 

You don’t need a key this time. To jump in, simply head to the Flamecraft Steam page and click the Request Access button. Once you do, Flamecraft Playtest will appear directly in your Steam Library, ready to launch.

The Playtest will be running throughout Steam Board Game Fest, from January 26 to February 2, and we’re so excited to have Flamecraft featured during this cozy celebration of tabletop-inspired games, alongside Wingspan and Quilts & Cats of Calico. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time in the town, play a few rounds, and experience Flamecraft before the release!
